| The item the model is based on is the Type 1435 Bó Bó 883, Series Mark II, universal diesel locomotive (T466.2 as per the original
ČSD numbering system introduced by ing. Krypín, these units are referred to as 742 Series under the UIC nomenclature). The locomotive delivers an output of 883 kW
with electric transmission and is designed for light freight transport, shunting, and short pulling in standard-gauge railroads with a maximum speed of 90 kph. This
locomotive is currently also used for traction of passenger trains not only on regional railroads. A total of 494 of these units were manufactured by the Lokomotivka-Sokolovo plant of ČKD Praha between 1977 and 1986. Being one of the series of the highest population in the former Czechoslovak State Railways, these units are still in operation nearly all over the ČD and SR networks. The 742 Series is a hooded locomotive with side walking platforms and a single cabin for the engineer; this is located near the rear end of the unit. The two engineer stations are diagonally opposed on the left and right sides of the cabin; each is fitted with a height-adjustable seat. Apart from the locomotive's controls, the cabin houses a closet, an electric hotplate and a fitting for a Tesla VR20 radio. The locomotive's prime mover is a ČKD K6S 230DR high-speed diesel engine (a four-stroke, water-cooled, supercharged six-cylinder with direct fuel injection) which is directly coupled to a ČKD TD805 traction generator into a single assembly. Basic technical data: Locomotive length over buffers: 13580 mm, Maximum locomotive width: 3060 mm, Maximum locomotive height: 4470 mm, Overall distance between locomotive axles: 9100 mm, Distance between bogie axles: 2400 mm, Distance between bogie pivots: 6700 mm. |

| The model locomotive is designed for a double-track, dual-charge power supply system. As currently required by model railroaders, it is, among others, fitted with NEM-pocket coupler kinematics to allow the closest connection of cars possible, exterior SMD-LED lights oriented by the direction of travel (red/white), and as standard, with an interface for connection of an NEM-compliant digital decoder. The good rail characteristics of the model result from application of an electric motor with flywheels and a low centre of gravity position obtained from the locomotive and bogie frames which are manufactured from metal. The model body and accessories are made from ABS plastic. An alternative version of the model will be offered with a factory-installed digital decoder that will include a sound module. |
